Gatherer of the Winds Dojo was the training ground of the Iuchi Shugenja [1] Iuchi Master of the Swift Waves, Moto Death Priest schools, [2] and Baraunghar Shugenja. [3]

Founding[]

The dojo located at Shiro Iuchi, was founded by Iuchi himself. It claimed the distinction of being the oldest shugenja dojo in the Empire. The dojo spanned several floors of the tower-like stronghold of the Iuchi family. The fortress and the dojo were abandoned for 800 years during the Ki-Rin's Exodus. [4] It was used by those samurai who would become the Fox Clan, and the Lion made it a storehouse. After the Return of the Ki-Rin, they built Shiro Iuchi beside the temple. [2]

Tradition[]

The students were taught to commune with the air and water kami in the plains surrounding the Iuchi castle. The school and its members tended to be on friendly terms with the Asahina and during the 12th century with the Kuni. Students generally denoted their school by having a small white or gray kanji for "air" stitched on the lower part of their family mon. They tended to be gregarious and balanced of spirit. [5]

Training[]

Knowledge of the Khadi , Name, Meishodo, and Ivory Kingdoms magic was kept there. [2] The students learned the importance of secrecy, as they guarded some of the rarest magic in all of the Empire. The Iuchi taught their students to take joy in their gift, the ability to look upon the forces of the universe as friends and move with them. As the shugenja progressed in his training, regimen almost disappeared. Gempukku was generally informal and spontaneous, with students performing some basic rituals and processes of meishodo invocation without knowing it was their final test. [6]

Sensei[]

The teachers tended to be jovial and unorthodox Iuchi shugenja. Many of them were aged, who had chosen to teach instead retirement. [7]
