Hiruma Makashi was a scout of the Crab Clan who was exiled from his Clan becoming a ronin named Makashi who during the Clan Wars served in Toturi's Army, [1] and when he joined the Mantis Clan became Yoritomo Makashi.
Nezumi[]
Makashi greatly disliked the nezumi. [2] While on patrol with his brother in the Shadowlands, Makashi saw a running ratling followed by an oni. The oni slew his brother then vanished in pursuit of the Nezumi. Later the ratling came back and began picking through his brother's possessions. The Ratling had purposefully led the oni to his brother so that it could rob his corpse. Makashi leapt out and slaughtered the Ratling. Consumed with rage he followed the Nezumi's tracks and found its village where Makashi killed every Nezumi he found there, finishing off the last of the warriors just a party of Kuni Shugenja arrived. Being the Nezumi a Crab allies Makashi was exiled from the Crab Clan [3] by Hida O-Ushi. [4]
Clan Wars[]
For a time he wandered as a ronin, and during the Clan War offered his services to Toturi's Army. On the Second Day of Thunder he fought beside Yoritomo and joined his ranks when the Mantis became a Great Clan. [3]
Rodrigo[]
Makashi knew the bandit leader Rodrigo and about his lineage. [5]
Phoenix Lands[]
Makashi fought in the Mantis Invasion of the Phoenix lands, and saw how Shiba Gensui [6] defeated Yoritomo Denyaku in personal combat, in a duel that determined the fate of the besieged Kyuden Isawa. [7]
Death[]
Makashi served during the War Against Shadow until the race to Volturnum, when he was found mysteriously struck dead by a Nezumi arrow. [3]
Lost to the Shadows?[]
Before Makashi departed from the Kaiu Wall Kuni Utagu believed he was lost to the nothing, when the Kuni saw his face without features. [4]
After Death[]
The Fortune of Heroes, Goemon, assembled him in the Legion of the Dead to fight the Legion of Blood in the Realm of Thwarted Destiny. [3]
