Tsuruchi Ki was a bushi Emerald Magistrate of the Mantis Clan.
Third Storm[]
Ki was a officer of note of the Third Storm. [1]
Magistrate[]
Tsuruchi Nobumoto paired a shugenja, Moshi Minami, with Ki, another samurai fresh out of his gempukku, and set them to work. [2]
Trapped in Sakkaku[]
Doji Oto was just another criminal wanted for forgery of travel documents for bandit gangs, yet he managed to lead Minami and Ki on a chase across the Crab lands. They finally cornered him in a cave in the middle of the Twilight Mountains. The duo charged in after their quarry without hesitation and entered a different world, Sakkaku, the Realm of Mischief, becoming trapped. [2]
Orochi[]
Minami made pact with the orochi Tsurayuki, in exchange for working to free all remaining orochi from Sakkaku. [3] Minami cast great magic to bind the soul of a human and an orochi to escape back into Ningen-do. When Minami returned to the human realm, she could no longer talk to the kami. [2] [4]
Winter Court - 1168[]
In an agreement between Unicorn and Mantis Clan during Winter Court at Kyuden Otomo in the winter 1168-1169, a daughter of Utaku Xieng-Chi would marry Tsuruchi Ki, who could be replaced by Yoritomo Buntaro. She would take his name and provide him an heir worth of his bow. Outside of his heir, any females born to Tsuruchi Ki (or Buntaro) should be given the choice to join the Shiotome as Battle Maidens. Emerald Magistrate[]
His exploits were mostly unknown outside the Tsuruchi lands, and after a while his status began to plummet. He was present at the Emerald Championship in 1169, and was approached by Shosuro Jimen before the tournament was even finished. Ki knew that Jimen would be the victor in the end, and immediately accepted a chance to serve with the new Emerald Champion. [4]
Death[]
Tsuruchi Ki
In 1170 Shosuro Jimen was targeted by Daigotsu's assassination campaign against the Great Clans. Ki took the blow that was meant for Jimen, sacrificing himself to protect the Emerald Champion. [6]
