Shosuro Makiko

Shosuro Makiko was a courtier-ko of the Scorpion Clan who was considered a seductress.

Imperial Court

Makiko was appointed at the Imperial Court at Toshi Ranbo during the reign of the Empress Iweko I.

War of Serpents

In 1198 members of the Great Clans with ties to the Naga race were being targeted by an unknown foe. Makiko offered the aid of the Scorpion to their allies the Dragon Clan. The former Dragon Clan Champion Mirumoto Mareshi had disappeared, as well as Akasha, mother of Moto Naleesh, betrothed of the current Dragon Champion Mirumoto Shikei. The Imperial Herald arrived and told the Imperial Governor of the Colonies Ikoma Katsuru had been slain in the Second City.

Teruken's Murder

Makiko was one of the mid-level functionaries of the Scorpion delegation to the Imperial Court, smart enough to see that Otomo Teruken was a dangerous courtier and talented orator. He was out of Makiko's reach, who would be delighted to see removed. Teruken was found murdered, the same night her champion Bayushi Nitoshi had been taken a late evening meal at a very reputable inn across the city. A ronin was found guilty of the murder and executed. In the court Nitoshi reminded the flaws of Teruken's last proposal, who could not be present to defend them.

Apprentice

Bayushi Fuyuko was appointed under her wing, to gain valuable knowledge in the court ways. When Doji Dainagon and her apprentice, Doji Natsuyo lobbied to move the Summer Court from the Second City to Twin Forks City, their efforts were outmanouvered by Makiko and Fuyuko.

Rise of Jigoku

In 1200 the rebellious Spider Clan had the upperhand in their goal to rule the Empire. Nitoshi offered to the enemy leader Daigotsu Kanpeki his services, and the services of half of his Clan. The Scorpion Clan Champion had delivered to Kanpeki the heads of the Crane Clan Champion Doji Makoto and the Phoenix Clan Champion Shiba Tsukimi to prove his allegiance. Makiko and her fellow courtiers Fuyuko, Bayushi Jinn-Ja, and Shosuro Yamazaki were demolished, with their clan ruined at Court. In audience with Iweko II Fuyuko asked for the right commit seppuku as an entire Clan to absolve the Scorpion name. The Emperor refused the request, as he wished the Great Clans to be united, shortly before the Spider stormed Toshi Ranbo. Nitoshi and his Clan were instrumental to secure the Iweko family, denying Kanpeki's real target, Iweko II.
