Shiba Kataken was a bushi, duelist, and yojimbo of the Phoenix Clan.

Kataken's childhood was made miserable by an older brother who bullied him unmercifully, and the happiest day of his life was when he left home for his dojo training. Since then, every foe he had defeated had been more proof that he had become stronger and more lethal than his brother. [1]
Legion of Flame[]
During the War of the Twins Kataken was appointed as commander of a Legion of Flame, second to Isawa Taiken of the Firestorm Legion. In 1192 they moved through the lands of the Crane allies and disguised as a merchant caravan moved north as if they came from the Twilight Mountains, bordering the Yasuki lands. They arrived unmolested to Shutai, a Scorpion village of vice and banditry. The Fall of Shutai was one of the few occasions in which the Firestorm Legion were permitted to unleash their true power, and the village was wiped out. [2]
