Doji Chieri was a courtier who served Crane Clan Champion Doji Domotai at Kyuden Doji in 1168, and escorted Doji Nagori and Doji Seishiro to meet Domotai following the news of the Battle of the Tomb. [1]
Winter Court - 1168[]
Chieri was an artisan of great beauty, who was sent to the Imperial Winter Court at Kyuden Otomo in 1168. Doji Fujie introduced her there, and began to use her gifts to gain the favor of the Phoenix Clan. [2]
Marriage[]
In 1170 Chieri married Matsu Yoshino, the Lion Clan Champion, becoming Matsu Chieri. Two days after their marriage she summoned all of Yoshino's estate managers and asked them to explain their accounts to her, so that she could fulfill her duties as his wife. Six days later she was managing them all herself. [3]
Matsu Kenji[]
The former Matsu Daimyo Matsu Kenji oversaw Chieri, aiding her integration within the Lion. [3]
Death of Yoshino[]
Yoshino was killed this year, and the Lion Clan Championship passed to Akodo Shigetoshi.[4] It was unknown what had become of Chieri afterwards.
