Tenkazu was a Mantis who through inheritance was Chuda Tenkazu, the most succesfull Chuda heir since the demise of the Snake several centuries ago. He joined the Phoenix Clan as Asako Tenkazu.
Bloodspeaker[]
Tenkazu was the son of a Mantis merchant, Gorobei, who was revealed as a bloodspeaker at his gempukku. His ancestor was the student of a Snake survivor of the Five Nights of Shame. Though not descended directly from the Snake Clan themselves, they were the true heirs of their legacy. Gorobei introduced his son to the ways of maho in the Phoenix lands. [1] Tenkazu spent many years masquerading as a simple Mantis merchant in the years leading up to the Clan War. [2]
Demeanor[]
Tenkazu was a cunning, ruthless, devious, wholly corrupted sociopath. On several occasions he drugged, tortured and murdered Asahina and Agasha Shugenja to learn the secrets of their magical crafts, the Tsangusuri and Mizugusuri. He crafted corrupted netsukes, giving them to the poor among the villages he visited, [3] as Road's End Village. [4]
Jadoku[]
Tenkazu wished to reunite Jadoku, the Ancestral Sword of the Snake Clan, with its Wakizashi. Reikado, the last true descendant of Isawa Chuda, founder of the Snake Clan was the keeper of the wakizashi. [3] He was framed by Tenkazu who stole the wakizashi. Tenkazu came to the Falcon lands and enacted a ritual that would summon the evil spirits of the lost Snake samurai, eager to possess mortal hosts. Reikado and a band of magistrates arrived and disrupted the ritual. Tenkazu faked his death after the battle. [2]
Phoenix Clan[]
Tenkazu joined the Phoenix Clan when they opened their doors to any ronin with potential following the Clan War, becoming Asako Tenkazu. He had a son, Asako Mishime and introduced him to the blood arts. [5] [2]
Death[]
His nemesis Reikado lost his trail, but after nearly two decades he eventually found and killed Tenkazu. [5]
