Eyes of the Emperor were magical crystal trinkets created by Seppun shugenja to ensure the safety of the Magistrates, administrators of the Emperor's justice. The trinkets carried the Emperor's blessing. [1] Monkey Magistrates who travelled outside Imperial lands to carry out a magistrate's duties were given these smooth, round stones of crystal. [2]
Appearance and Abilities[]
The Eye looked like a mulilfaceted sky-blue gem about the size of a child's fist. More than one such gem was known to exist. [3] An Eye of the Emperor had a pale inner light that constantly radiated within it, giving the crystal a blue shade and generating a sphere of bluish light around it. The light iluminated not only the surroundings, but the bearer's mind, giving peace to his soul. [1] The Eye allowed the user to view someone not only in the present, but in the future. [3] They protected the mind from lies, illusion, and subversion. [2]
