Emma-O was the Fortune of Death, judge of the underworld, and has ever been the keeper of Meido, the Realm of Waiting.[1]
[edit] Shared Rulership of Meido
Following Moto Chagatai's rescue of his grandfather, Moto Gaheris, from the Shi-Tien Yen-Wang, Emma-O ruled Meido in conjunction with the Lords of Death.[2][3]
This co-rulership was negotiated by Kitsu Hisashi when he came across the Shi-Tien Yen-Wang fighting against Emma-O. Part of the agreement was that should the Lords of Death ever break their oath to not harm Rokugan, the souls of the Lion Clan would be tortured in the Realm of Waiting for all time.[4]
[edit] Son
Emma-O had a son, Doji Midoru, with a mortal, Doji Yukie.[5]
