Doji Numata was a bushi and magistrate of the Crane Clan who served as a governor. [1]
Perched Dragon monk
In 1171 when the Dragon Clan was tasked to go out in the Empire and teach, after the War of Dark Fire, Togashi Akagi went to sit on top of the palace of Doji Numata and refused to get down. Requests from the Crane Clan to the Dragon to make him get down went unanswered. [2]
Jimen's confession
In 1172 the Emerald Champion Shosuro Jimen told Numata that Kakita Matabei had murdered three Emerald Magistrates of the Scorpion Clan, and asked the Crane to punish the killer. Surprisingly Jimen also told his own involvement in the assassination of Kakita Noritoshi's wife, Kakita Mai, as part of a Blood Feud he had with the disappeared Kakita Daimyo. Jimen warned to Numata to do not say anything, or he would be ruined utterly and gain nothing. Jimen offered after it a tea, which Numata reluclantly was forced to accept. The Emerald Champion was also well known as a Poison Master. [3]
Death
Every Month of the Rooster Numata sent someone to the roof to reckon Akagi. He was still there when Numata passed away. [4]
