Dan-eki was a system used by heimin to make decisions, throwing dice or coins in sets of three, with odd numbers or the obverse (script) side indicating a positive answer, and even numbers or the reverse side indicating a negative one. Three of one or the other was strong guidance, while a mixture was less clear. [1]
