Palace of the Emerald Champion

Palace of the Emerald Champion

The Castle of the Emerald Champion (A3), also called Shiro Yogasha, was the estate of the Emerald Champion.

Location[]

For a thousand years the land north and to the west of Otosan Uchi belonged to the Emerald Champion. No army had ever dared to threaten its borders, as all daimyo were aware that it would be an open invitation for all the other clans to attack them. The castle itself, the Palace of the Emerald Champion, sat on a high hill surrounded by a wide empty plain, the Plains of the Emerald Champion. This allowed any advancing army to be spotted days in advance. The Imperial Chrysanthemum was proudly displayed at the castle's front gate. [1]

Appearance[]

The castle was a luxurious, sprawling estate with little emphasis on defense. Following the attack on Otosan Uchi in 1159, Yasuki Hachi ordered defensive walls to be constructed around the castle, and lookout towers to be stationed intermittently about the wide plains surrounding the estate. [2]

Dojo[]

With Otosan Uchi no longer a suitable headquarters, the estate served as a default headquarters for Emerald Magistrates, [2] as their primary dojo, [3] the called Ruby Dojo. [4] A rather extensive barracks and training facility were part of the compound. The Ruby Champion had a small estate adjoining the castle. [5]

Yasuki Hachi[]

Following the Fall of Otosan Uchi, the Emerald Champion Yasuki Hachi refused to abandon the traditional estate. [6]

Toturi III[]

In 1167 the Castle was the place chose by Toturi III to meet the Scorpion Clan Champion Bayushi Paneki, prior to his quest for Enlightenment. The Dragon Clan Champion appeared to tattoo over the Emperor's missing eye. [7]
