Bayushi Shizuka was a courtier of the Scorpion Clan who was appointed in the Colonies. [1]

Kind Courtier[]

Shizuka was born in Ryoko Owari Toshi, and was trained to serve her family in a variety of corrupt endeavors. Unfortunately, she had a soft heart, and in 1196 Shizuka jeopardized a mission by sparing a rival courier she should have ordered killed by a family enforcer. Her older brother reported the incident to their grandmother, the head of their family. As Shizuka was no longer a reliable asset, she was sent to the Colonies. [2]

Colonies[]

Shizuka was appointed under the command of Bayushi Ayaka, head of the Scorpion delegation in the Second City. The ambassador specifically assigned Shizuka to deal with people who were probing the Scorpion for weaknesses, Shizuka was used as bait. She despised the Colonies, and particularly deplored the local cuisine, developing strongly traditionalist attitudes. [2]

Imperial Governor Escape[]

Shizuka, alongside Yoritomo Saigo and Omigawa, were involved in the escape of the Imperial Governor of the Colonies Otomo Suikihime, who was sought by Imperial forces after the Siege of the Second City. [3]

Suikihime's Sanction[]

Suikihime was hidden in a large village, where she devised how to kill the Fudoist threat. Shizuka, a well-dressed man native of the Ivory Kingdoms, Omigawa, and Asako Karachu were her command staff. Maps with movements of the Fudo cult displayed the areas where the cultists attacked the Fallen, only to be killed in turn by agents sent by Suikihime. The former governor eventually surrendered herself to Hiruma Tenshin, an agent of Ivory Champion Shinjo Tselu, and returned to the Second City. [4]

Blood of the Preserver[]

Shizuka ordered one of her agents, Shosuro Tagiso to kille a governor of another clan, who had become so inconvenient. During the mission the ninja also gathered the current location of the gaijin nemuranai known as then Blood of the Preserver. The Spider had retained a small amount of it for their own use after giving the bulk of it to the Empress Iweko I. The Scorpion's intelligence suggested that her younger son Iweko Shibatsu was aware of the Blood's location. [5]

Returning to Mainland[]

In 1199 Shizuka was eventually appointed at Pit's Edge village, which was seen by her as the absolute bottom of the clan's social strata, and an appointment there was tantamount to exile. There she met Yasuki Kameyoi, a former Shosuro, who was loyal to the Scorpion even after her marriage with Yasuki Tono. [6]
