Bayushi Saisho was the wife of the leader of the Bayushi cartel at Ryoko Owari Toshi, Bayushi Korechika.
Family[]
Saisho married Bayushi Korechika, who loved her, and the couple had a cheerful daughter, Bayushi Omoto, and later a son, Bayushi Otado. [1]
Resentment[]
Korechika was deeply involved in his duties, and Saisho gained few attentions from him. She held secret resentments against her husband's work. [2]
Omoto's death[]
In 1114, when Omoto was thirteen it was clear she had less intelligence than her nine-year-old brother. Many shugenja were consulted, including the Phoenix Asako Kinto, but no one could aid her daughter. Korechika did not overcome it, and plotted to clean the family's stain. Omoto supposedly became ill and died, but she was instead alive and hidden in the Bayushi state. Another story was also spread, involving an enamorated servant [3] who kidnapped and tried forced Omoto, which would lead eventually in her death. [4]
Voices[]
Saisho when she was asleep during night heard voices, the one of Kinto, saying that her daughter was a happy child, not a shame to be hidden away. [2]
Husband's death[]
Korechika was killed in 1122 in one of the fights between the opium cartels during the Opium War. [5]
