Shosuro Guwahime was the youngest daughter of Shosuro Ideme. Because she was very plain girl, her father lamented that he would never be able to find a husband to his daughter. He tried to marry her to each of the Great Clans, sending her to the Clan's Court, but each time she was returning home with no promise. One night, Guwahime went without her father permission to the eldest son of the Bayushi daimyo. The next morning, Ideme received a word that the son of the Scorpion Clan Champion had married his daughter that night, becoming Bayushi Guwahime. Ideme learned from his daughter's maid that the Bayushi heir asked Guwahime how she could be useful to him. She spent all the night to tell him what she had learned from each of the Clans and how to trick all of them. [1]

Literary Work[]

Guwahime had a fondness for educating children. In fact, she spent a lot of time in the court telling them stories and tales. Her version of the Tale of the Scorpion and the Frog was considered the official one. [2]

The most famous tales told by Guwahime were commonly known as Guwahime's Fables, and were published by her son after her death. [1]
