Bayushi Benkei was a bushi of the Scorpion Clan and sensei of the Bayushi Bushi school.

Family Edit

Bayushi Kanbe was his father, who died in a skirmish when Benkei was two years old. He lived in the village of Kagoki under the care of his mother Bayushi Umeka, a veteran courtier who had served in the Imperial Court, who taught him courtly skills. His uncle Bayushi Kobo taught him kenjutsu, hunting, and the Scorpion tenets of duty, honor, and Loyalty. [1]

Training Edit

Benkei entered the Bayushi Bushi school, and became a promising student. His training was interrupted, when his mother was killed near the Shadowlands, in the gap between the Twilight Mountains and the Shinomen Forest. Benkei left the dojo and for years sought of those who had murdered her. He returned to the school and finished his training. [2]

Sensei Edit

Benkei returned at the Crab lands and the Shadowlands in a futile attempt to assuage his grief. Eventually he became sensei of the Bayushi Bushi school and a master of iaijutsu. In 1168 Benkei was in his early seventies, one of the most respected sensei of his dojo. [2]
