Battles of Rokugan

The Battle at the Second Pit bgan as a confrontation between a Lion invading army and the Scorpion defenders, but a breach in the Scorpion Wall allowed many oni to escape the Second Festering Pit, engaging the Rokugani.

Preambles[]

A war between the Scorpion and the Lion Clans had been sanctioned by the Imperials. After several months of preparations, the Matsu Daimyo Matsu Chizuki crossed the Shamate Pass and entered Scorpion territory. [1] A tremendous Lion force occupied the single road between Shiro Yogo and Kyuden Bayushi in the Fukitsu province, while the Scorpion retreated behind the safety of the Scorpion Wall, dancing around the massive structure to keep neutral territory between them. The Lion Clan Champion Akodo Dairuko herself protected the supply lines and providing a secure line of retreat. [2]

Battle[]

The Scorpion Army split in two around the circular Wall. The First Crimson Legion led a charge on the right, with the Scorpion's Strike at their head. The Second Crimson Legion circled from the left, with Bayushi Norimasa leading his Black Cabal. Surprisingly, the Crab also took the field. The defenders began to scatter, even before the Lion had engaged them, beacuse the Rokugani were under the attack of oni. An outbreak had happened in the wall, after Yogo Chijin sacrificed himself to let the demon enter Ningen-do. Chizuki regrouped and took the Crab troops under her command, absorbing heavy losses. The Scorpion had not realized the situation and had kept on fighting their Lion foe. The Matsu Daimyo and most of her command staff survived. [2]

Aftermath[]

After their defeat the Lion were routed from Shamate Pass. [3] A Lion army led by Dairuko relentlessly advanced in the Scorpion lands, despite the Scorpion opposition. [4] The Scorpion Clan Champion Bayushi Nitoshi ordered to torch Kyuden Bayushi, denying Dairuko the satisfaction to do it herself. [5]
