Badgers were common forest animals who prefered to hunt grubs and roots beneath trees. Being related to weasels they were omnivorous, eating small mice and other animals also. Badgers had very powerful jaws and claws and created and lived in burrows under the ground that could have extensive tunnel systems. Badgers were fierce animals and would protect themselves and their young at all costs. Badgers were capable of fighting off much larger animals such as wolves and bears.

Badgers could be commonly found in every major forested area in Rokugan. ^[1]
