[edit] Appearance

Ashalan have pale white skin that is often covered in black tattoos. At first glance, they appear human, but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear they are not men.

[edit] Location

The race has some structures on the Plains Above Evil. Though the bulk of their lands seem to border somewhere between the Ivory Kingdoms the Burning Sands and Rokugan, while their population is lower than almost any other species, their vast numbers of slaves and servants would appear to preserve these lands in their name.

[edit] Lifespan

Ashalan are effectivly immortal, generally they only meet their end via a violent death. They also have an extremly low birth rate. Only three Ashalan children have been born in the last thousand years.

[edit] Magic

The tattoos of the Ashlan are known to enslave the wills of others. It is unclear how this works, but the Ashlan are masters of bending the wills of others to their own.

[edit] War with the Naga

The Naga and Ashalan war was so destructive Lady Sun was forced to end it and placed a curse on both races. The Naga could not leave their territory and the Ashalan could not enter the Naga's. The curse twists any member of the race that strays into others lands, turning them into abominations to their respective race. This conflict stands to this day, as the races are very long lived and know how to hold a grudge.

Naga and Ashalan can sense one anothers magic, to them it is a foul stench that they can not mistake.

[edit] The Scorpion

The Scorpion during their exile to the Burning Sands were able to make some Ashalan allies, and one, a sandsmith, even returned with them to the Empire. Though this is thought to be very odd by most Ashalan given their general low view on mortal races.

[edit] The Shadow

According to myth, the Ashalan used the Shadow to help create the world as it is now. Whether this is true or not, the Ashalan seem to have a connection to the shadow, and have been able to use its powers.

[edit] Crystal

Ashalan are master artists when it comes to crystal. Over countless centuries they have mastered the art of sandsmithing. Their weapons are almost always made of a crystal they call Crysteel. It is impossibly strong, light and powerful. It is perhaps not by chance that they are masters of the one material that is capable of hurting the Shadow.
