Asahina Mai was an artisan of the Crane Clan who married a Yasuki, becoming Yasuki Mai. Her husband was heavily indebted, so with little money to hire a tutor, she raised her son, Yasuki Naoki, in the same manner that she herself had been taught. After her husband disappeared, Mai took her son and daughter, hurrying to safety in the Crane lands. [1]
