[edit] The Suspicious Gift

It was given to the Scorpion Clan Champion, Bayushi Rikoji in the year it was forged. Rikoji did not trust the sword, however, and never touched it. After the deaths of the Crab Clan Champion, Lion Clan Champion and Crane Clan Champion, he became even more suspicious of the sword's origin and dispatched the Magistrate Soshi Takasho to find Yajinden.[1]

[edit] The Usurper

The sword lay locked in the depths of Kyuden Bayushi, unnused, until Bayushi Shoju took it up in 1123 and used the weapon to kill the Emperor Hantei XXXVIII. It is believed that Ambition can conceal itself to all but the wielder, which allowed Bayushi Shoju to carry it into the throne room without anyone noticing. Ambition was shattered when Shoju missed Toturi and sliced into the throne of the Emperor. The blade twisted and shattered, and burst into tiny fragments, painting the walls of the throne room red with spewing blood from all of its victims. It was in the breaking of Ambition and the sight of the broken throne that Shoju was distracted long enough to be stabbed in the back by Toturi I.[2]

[edit] The Shards of Ambition

After the breaking of Ambition, Bayushi Kachiko used some of the shards as hair pins, until the Second Day of Thunder when she stabbed Fu Leng in the eyes with them.[citation needed]

Some time later Sanzo discovers the majority of the shards and reforges them into a wakizashi, attempting to assassinate Toturi with it.

After the death of Sanzo the wakizashi finds its way to Shiba Tsukune who is compelled by it to raise her voice against the Elemental Masters. Cleaving their meeting table in half she demands a sixth place at the table, only to be calmed down by the masters and the wakizashi taken from her and placed in Gisei Toshi.[citation needed]

Since then Mirumoto Kenzo aquired it during the Siege of Gisei Toshi in 1165, and the remaining shards that were not used in the making of the wakizashi have been found by Mirumoto Mareshi.[citation needed]
