- Kaiu Sudaro fails to impress a Scorpion daimyo with his work, and the Scorpion takes his son hostage.
- Kaiu Sudaro's son is saved by Mara, one of the Naga, marking the first known contact between the two races.
- Kaiu Sadaro begins the creation of the Gates of Persistence, in memory of the Naga who save his son.
