- Hantei XVI is killed by Otomo Hoketuhime during a brutal beating of Hantei Naseru.
- Matsu Nimuro becomes the Lion Clan Champion.
- Kaneka meets Naoharu who convinces him to reveal his secret to the Scorpion Clan.
- Shortly after, Kaneka is announced as the son of Toturi, and offered fealty by the Akodo.
- Six days after he is announced by the Lion an assassination on Kaneka is foiled.
- Shosuro Toson enlists the aid of Shosuro Aroru to assassinate Kaneka.
- Aroru fails to assassinate Kaneka, thanks to his traitor wife Shosuro Teiriko.
- Hoshi Maseru, Hoshi Kaelung and forty sohei attack Kokujin on the Plains Above Evil. Kaelung is the only survivor thanks to the intervention of Master Jade.
